Betsy Steiner Dressage is very excited to be offering a comprehensive Internship program that introduces students to every aspect of a successful Dressage Training facility. We have moved to a beautiful new farm in Frenchtown, NJ and are happy to be offering many educational opportunities for our interns. We have hired many young adults over the years and have developed a curriculum that will allow students to get a taste of the “real world” while remaining in a nurturing and educational environment. We would like to offer our internship primarily to students that have a horse they would like to bring along with them for more dressage training.
All of the internship horses will be in full training with Jessie Steiner (this translates into approximately 20 private lessons per month with Jessie) and students will receive two private lessons per month with Betsy Steiner. Interns will also have weekly observation sessions in which Betsy will detail her training plan with one of the horses in training and then have a question and answer session after the training session. We want our students to have a thorough understanding of our training philosophy. We will be holding weekly Equilates classes which will allow our students to increase their body awareness and work on their position in both mounted and un-mounted sessions.
We will bring in speakers to discuss various aspects of the dressage world. We may have an equine chiropractor, our veterinarian and farrier as well as other professionals in the industry. We feel it is important for students to gain an appreciation for the various facets of the Equine Industry and want our interns to understand that it takes a team of people to get a horse into the show ring.
We will be attending shows in New Jersey, New York and surrounding states in the summer and traveling to Wellington for the Florida Show Season in the winter, we will invite our interns to come along to these shows. They will be able to bring their horses if they wish to show and will receive coaching at horse shows.
Betsy will be holding several Dressage Retreats during the summer and fall months, interns will be asked to help organize and facilitate these exciting educational weekends. They will also be invited to attend some of the speaker sessions so that they can benefit from the information that will be discussed during the retreats.
Interns will be asked to assist with the daily functioning of Betsy Steiner Dressage performing tasks ranging from cleaning stalls to grooming horses and will also be asked to assist with keeping our facility looking top notch at all times. They will learn about every aspect of running a successful training operation including horse management and stable scheduling. Betsy Steiner Dressage will provide housing for students. Students will be required to pay for their horse's expenses including stabling; feed, hay & shavings; vet and farrier expenses. This experience is the student’s stepping stone from the class room to fitting in and working in a competitive stable.
